

If you don’t see much at first keep looking. To find Hamilton county, find your way to US 41 or US 129. Located in the middle of the county is the Alapaha River, “called the river of sand”, which disappears underground during certain parts of the year leaving a dry, sandy river bed.


The county (often called a peninsula within a peninsula) it’s separated from the rest of Florida by the Withlacoochee River on the west and the Suwanee River to the east and south. Jasper is the county seat with neighboring towns of White springs and Jennings. South Georgia forms a northern border. Hamilton county is located in North Central Florida. Hamilton County is Florida’s 15th county, established on Decemfrom a sergeant of Escambia County whom chose its name from the first secretary of Treasury Alexander Hamilton.
